What is The Cultivate Family Open Art Studio?
The Cultivate Family Open Art Studio is a weekly Saturday event that encourages families with young children to come together and explore their creativity. This is a free, all-ages event open to the public! Whether you have a preschooler, toddler, or any age kid, you’re welcome to join us and create something special.
When is it?
The Cultivate Family Open Art Studio takes place every Saturday from 10am-12pm. It is an opportunity for families to come together and explore their creative side in a fun and supportive environment. Every week we offer a different theme to explore and each project is designed for all ages, so everyone can join in the fun! The Family Open Art Studio is a great way to spend quality time with your family and unleash your creativity. So come out, create something amazing and have some fun!
Where is it?
Our Family Open Art Studio is held at Cultivate Gallery and Education space, located at 620 Wealthy St SE, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Parking is easy at that time of the day, and parents/guardians or caregivers can find street parking on Wealthy Street or James.
How much does it cost?
Our goal is to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and can explore their creativity without worrying about cost. That's why our family open studio is free every week!
What will we be doing? Is there a theme each week?
At The Cultivate Family Open Art Studio, you and your family will have the opportunity to explore your creativity in a fun and supportive environment. We will provide a variety of materials and techniques so that each family member can find something that interests them.
We do not have a theme for the weeks. Instead, we follow the child and their interests! We will be doing a range of activities, including painting, drawing, sculpting, collage, printing, and more. Kids have made everything from small clay pinch pots, self-portraits in oil pastels, scribble abstract works with markers, comic books, and so much more! Our instructors will be on hand to help guide you through the creative process and answer any questions you may have. This is a great way to learn some new skills and bond as a family!
At the end of the session, each family will have the opportunity to take home their own unique artwork. It’s a great way to make memories that will last a lifetime! So come join us for an exciting day of creativity and artistic exploration at the Cultivate Family Open Art Studio!
What do adults do? Do I have to be a parent?
At our Family Open Art Studio, all adults are welcome to join in the fun! Grandparents, caregivers, parents, and anyone else who wants to be a part of the creative experience are all invited. You don’t have to be a parent to attend, and we love it when families come together to share an artistic experience. We want to create an inviting atmosphere that is open to everyone. So bring your whole family and join us for some quality time making art!
We see parents, caregivers, family members, or guardians that help their kiddos, make art of their own, or simply have a cup of tea and make new friends as their children work. It's really a well-rounded experience, and fun for all!
