Safeguarding Artistic Investment: The Importance of Artist Insurance

Emerging Curators Program
In partnership with Calvin College, Kendall, and GVSU, we invite artists and curators to apply for a three-month paid residency program for artists to gain a comprehensive study and hands-on practice with various elements of a formal curatorial study and practice.
This ten-week program will run from June 9 - August 11, 2023. We anticipate participants of the program to work an average of 5-8 hours a week, for a total estimated 80 hours.
Participants of this program will work hand in hand with the Director, Director of Exhibitions, and Curatorial Team to do the following -

Design an exhibition - concept

Scout for artists

Write call

Curatorial texts, including, but not limited to: curatorial statement, text on the wall of the entrance, catalog, fliers, web format, the text used in the press release, or writing presentation

Art Advisory Consultations with local interior design firm, hotel owner, and Corewell (formerly Spectrum Health)

Jurying call

Contracts for artists, location/venue, photographer

Writing acceptance and rejection letters to artists

Exhibition layout, installation, deinstallation

Marketing, including creating a marketing plan

Host exhibition opening and/or tour of spaces
